Crosses in Henderson honor veterans who died for our country

HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) – There’s a tradition now on display in Henderson’s Central Park. There are rows of American flags and white crosses that each honor a veteran who died serving our country.

Volunteers were out on Monday setting up the patriotic display ahead of Memorial Day Weekend.

14 News photojournalist Emma Gefter talked with Elaine Gold, who was out Monday to honor a family member. Gold says, “The first time my father’s cross first came up, I remember being very tearful about it, but it’s also very joyful. There’s a lot of heroism about it represented right here.”…
