Monument to Kentucky’s first female prosecutor to be unveiled Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A new monument honoring a trailblazing Louisville attorney and prosecutor will soon stand outside the city’s Hall of Justice.

Crews are installing an Alberta O. Jones statue outside the courthouse at 6th and Jefferson. Jones made history as Kentucky’s first female prosecutor and was also known for her advocacy for voting rights. She also negotiated Muhammad Ali’s first professional boxing contract.

Jones was killed in 1965, in her mid-30s. Her murderer was never caught…
