Veho Hospitality Group Opens New Sensory Bar Experience in Downtown New Orleans

Veho Hospitality Group has once again brought an immersive dining experience to the Central Business District. The team behind Tacos del Cartel and Sushi by Us has officially opened Tragos Amargos by Taquerías Carnalito.

Tragos Amargos was designed to bring guests through more hi-fi listening exploration while enjoying a curated list of delicious cocktails and food that we have come to expect from a Veho Group restaurant. When you pass through Taquerías Carnalito into Tragos Amargos, you truly are transported into a sultry and sophisticated space that feels miles away from the bustling Poydras Street right out side. The warm, red tones, the dim lighting and the thoughtfully chosen playlist all play into the owner’s goal to address all of the five senses in one experience. “The space is conceived for presence: attentive, contained, and profoundly intentional,” shared the team.

In addition to the cocktails and sensory experience, the Veho standard for cuisine is felt throughout the menu. With the kitchen producing a mix of New Orleans, Mexican and Japanese influences, the options range from Oxtail Tetela with Black Mole – which is a hand-folded nixtamalized corn masa filled with 12-hour braised oxtail, bathed in an artisanal black mole – to an Alligator Hot Dog, a grilled Louisiana alligator sausage in a brioche bun with garlic-Dijon mustard aioli and a serrano-jalapeño chile jam, crowned with sour cream and chives.

On April 29, Danny Cruz, Vilexys Cruz and the whole team celebrated the ribbon cutting on the new space, officially welcoming the public into the moving new bar experience. The event was attended by local business leaders including Mayor Helena Moreno and Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President Mayra Pineda. In addition to the ribbon cutting, the Cruzes were honored by the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce for their commitment to the city’s hospitality landscape…
