No charges for Cheektowaga officer who fatally shot Buffalo man last August

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation announced on Tuesday that a Cheektowaga police officer will not face criminal charges for a shooting that left one man dead in August 2025.

Hugh Davis Jr., 60, was shot by police on Aug. 13, 2025 at an apartment on Sanders Road in Buffalo after he attacked officers with a knife. In December, the New York Attorney General’s Office deemed the shooting to be justified.
