SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego residents in the Egger Highlands neighborhood had to evacuate from their homes Tuesday morning after a construction crew dug into a gas line.
The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to the 1890 block of Hermes Street in San Diego just before 11 a.m. for reports of a gas leak.

SDFD reports a construction crew dug into a 3.25-inch gas line, then checked for exposures on the street and found one.
Residents in at least two homes were evacuated out of an abundance of caution after the gas exposure was found, SDFD confirmed.
