Suspected rat poison found at South Bay park, 1 dog sickened

(KRON) — A dog is recovering after ingesting pellets believed to be rat poison at Jenny Strand Park in Santa Clara, city officials said Monday. A portion of the public park, which is just east of Apple headquarters, has been temporarily shut down as the incident is investigated.

A Santa Clara resident reported the suspected rat poison to the city on Monday and said their dog was sickened after eating some of the pellets. The dog is now in stable condition, according to officials.

“Parks staff immediately responded, removed visible material, and conducted a thorough inspection of the site,” the city wrote in an advisory. “Approximately 5,000 sq. ft. of the park is closed while cleanup, inspection, and investigation efforts continue.”
