Deanie’s Seafood employee pleads not guilty to stealing more than $40K from business

The Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office formally filed charges against a longtime employee of Deanie’s Seafood who is accused of stealing more than $40,000 from the popular Bucktown restaurant.

Cynthia Esquerre, 51, of Metairie, was charged with one count of felony theft, according to court records. She pleaded not guilty on May 5.

Esquerre was arrested in March following an investigation by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. She was employed at the Deanie’s located at 1713 Lake Ave., Metairie, and worked in the seafood market, according to Sgt. Brandon Veal, spokesperson for the department…
