The closure of Weld County Road 13 has been kind of a nightmare for my daily commute over the past month. This was the road that I normally took to get to and from Windsor.
Weld County Road 13 Closure Changed Local Commutes
At the end of March, the intersection of Weld County Road 13 and 54 will be closed well into late October for the construction of a roundabout. This closure meant that I needed to take County Road 17 from Johnstown into Windsor.
However, there was one problem. The stoplight at County Road 17, crossing US Highway 34, was a disaster. We’re talking seven-second-long green lights to cross a busy highway. This short light only let 2-3 vehicles cross, and even less if there was a semi-truck.
One morning, sitting at this light, I timed how long it stayed green. I felt compelled to share my thoughts on the chaos it was causing for thousands of drivers every day. You know that saying, the squeaky wheel gets the grease?
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who echoed these thoughts about the mess of the intersection. Numerous people agreed that the light was far too short to help the congestion connecting the two Northern Colorado towns.
