Arrest made in stabbing that shut down Washington Street

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of an April 22 stabbing that led police to shut down Washington Street while searching for a suspect.

Donald Riley Nelson was booked Monday, May 11, in Lane County Jail, and charged Tuesday with first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police on April 22 responded at about 9:45 p.m. to a reported stabbing at Washington Street and 12th Avenue. One person sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital for treatment…
