Local township bans data centers, but nearby city’s annexation bid could override it

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) – St. Clair Township in Butler County has moved to block data centers from being built within its borders, but township leaders say that may not stop a major project if neighboring Trenton succeeds in annexing township land.

Township Trustee Dustin Gadd said he requested public records from Trenton in March as rumors circulated that the city was pursuing a second data center within months of securing its first with Prologis. Gadd said the city’s response provided little information because Trenton protected its economic development records.
