WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — FOX8’s Chad Tucker received a surprise honor Tuesday as the City of Winston-Salem officially proclaimed May 12, 2026, as Chad Tucker Day.
The proclamation, presented on Tucker’s 50th birthday, recognizes his more than three decades of service as a broadcaster, community volunteer and champion for North Carolina’s people and small towns.

Chad began his broadcasting career at just 12 years old on WKTE-AM radio in King. Through his Emmy Award-winning storytelling series Chad’s Folks, Chad has spent years spotlighting everyday people, local traditions and the heart of communities across the state.
Mayor Allen Joines thanked Chad not only for his work in journalism but also for his dedication and service to local hospitals, organizations and schools.
