DENHAM SPRINGS — A woman is reeling after she learned her car was allegedly stolen before it crashed in a ditch after a police pursuit on Mother’s Day. The suspect in the incident is in the hospital recovering from his injuries and faces a list of charges.
Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported home invasion around 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. Deputies arrived at the home on Autumn Drive in Prairieville where they spoke with the victim and witness to the incident. The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Taylor Sharkey of Amite, an ex-boyfriend of the home invasion victim with an active restraining order against him, per the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Ascension deputies tracked Sharkey driving west on Highway 42, allegedly in a car stolen from a body shop in Livingston Parish.
