The weather for this year’s Dallas Dec My Room’s Room To Grow Luncheon was truly in the Goldilocks category — not too hot, not too cold and not too windy, but just right for gals to wear their most springful dresses and stiletto sandals on Wednesday, April 8. Once again NorthPark’s marvelous Neiman Marcus Garden was a fabulous setting for the guests to learn about fashion and interior design while supporting the Dec My Room North Texas program. Here’s a report from the field:
Room to Grow Luncheon Co-Chairs Erika Burton and Melissa Smrekar, with Honorary Chair Nancy Nasher, welcomed a sold-out crowd of nearly 300 attendees to the 8th Annual Room to Grow Luncheon on Wednesday, April 8, in the Neiman Marcus Garden at NorthPark Center.
In picture-perfect weather (and hats and “sunnies” encouraged!), luncheon attendees arrived in spring attire, many in looks inspired by Nancy Meyers’ films, as suggested. As they mingled and enjoyed Madre prosecco and mini glass bottles of Diet Coke, partygoers viewed one-of-a-kind miniature dollhouse-sized rooms “dec’d” by eight of Dallas’ most distinguished interior designers. The tiny works of art – all up for bidding in the silent auction – were created by participating designers, including Luncheon Design Chair Javier Burkle of Burkle Creative, Traci Connell of Traci Connell Interiors, Beth Dotolo and Carolina Gentry of Pulp Design Studios, Teddie Garrigan and Courtney Garrigan of Coco and Dash, Lisa Henderson of Lisa Henderson Interiors, Eddie Maestri of Maestri Studio, Noel Pittman of Noel Pittman Design, and Jen Stevens of Fonde Interiors. Erin Mathews served as the official “listing agent” for the dollhouse and miniature rooms.
Additional auction items included an Argentinian Dove and Pigeon Hunt with HP Wingshooting Adventures, a five-night stay at a luxury Delray, Florida beach house, Schumacher wallpaper, a Harold Leidner Landscape Architects design concept, an Oh My Mahjong pool set, and more. Guests purchased raffle tickets for chances to win one of six prizes, including a $2,500 gift card to NorthPark Center, two tickets to “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” in New York City, a custom children’s dollhouse inspired by the house in “Father of the Bride,” a Celine handbag, a “Meet Me There” engraved pendant by Le Bungalow from Eiseman Jewels and a Dallas restaurant package.
At the appointed time, attendees took their seats at tables adorned with gorgeous “Les Fougeres” linens by corporate sponsor Schumacher and lush white and green floral centerpieces by Central Market. A vibrant table lamp, donated by Coco and Dash, could also be seen on each table and was gifted to any attendee who donated $250 or more to Dec My Room during the event…
