Judge dismisses Blythewood mayor from civil lawsuit against town

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) — A judge has dismissed Blythewood Mayor Sloan Griffin III in his individual capacity from a civil lawsuit filed by Michelle and Fred Layman against the Town of Blythewood and the mayor, according to a post made on Facebook.

According to Mayor Griffin, the court found the allegations involved actions taken as part of his official duties as mayor and ruled that the Town of Blythewood is the proper party under the South Carolina Tort Claims Act.
