Venice police warn of fake RV websites using local addresses

VENICE, Fla. (WWSB) – Venice police are warning residents about fraudulent websites advertising recreational vehicles at prices that appear too good to be true.

The Venice Police Department said the fake sites are using real business addresses in the city to make the listings appear legitimate. Police said they have identified at least three websites using that tactic.

The websites advertise RVs at steep discounts, according to police. Buyers are then asked to wire money or send payment to unknown people. Once the payment is made, police said, the RV does not exist and the people behind the sale stop responding…
