Fruitville apartment plan to replace cottages makes second appearance

At the start of their presentation to the city’s Development Review Committee on May 6, representatives of land planning consulting firm Kimley-Horn expressed their hope for partial sign-off of the project with the working name of 1899 Fruitville Road.

That’s the multifamily development that would occupy the block of Fruitville Road and Fourth Street between Gillespie and North Osprey avenues, replacing the rainbow row of bungalows occupied by small businesses and restaurants.

Although progress was made since the project’s first submittal on March 18, enough outstanding technical matters remained to require a third submittal of the project to the full committee of city development oversight staff.

Bristol Development Group of Franklin, Tennessee, proposes to build a five-story, 324-unit residential project on the 3.44-acre site that covers 22 parcels separating Fruitville Road from the Gillespie Park neighborhood.
