Project Kaiden Calls for Franklin Street Changes

A new petition calling for major pedestrian safety improvements on West Franklin Street is gaining attention in Evansville following the tragic death of 21-year-old Kaiden Cherven.

Certain stories immediately make you stop and think about the unimaginable phone call no parent ever wants to receive. As a mom to a daughter in her twenties, the news of this young man’s passing made my heart sink.

The petition, titled “Project Kaiden,” was created after Kaiden lost his life on March 27, 2026, along the 2100 block of West Franklin Street, one of the city’s busiest entertainment and nightlife corridors.
