A woman has been arrested and police are seeking a second suspect after police say the pair bilked a Hendersonville man out of nearly $14,000 after the victim was told he had a warrant out for his arrest.
According to court records, the victim contacted police in February after being contacted by someone claiming to be a deputy with the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office and that a warrant was out for his arrest. The person reportedly demanded payment through Walmart barcode deposits and a Bitcoin ATM transaction. The victim reportedly sent $13,995 via the two online transactions.
Police identified the phone number used to call the victim and used message logs to identify repeated contact with the victim. The same phone number was also reportedly linked to a similar ongoing investigation…
