FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — After a joint meeting between the Franklin County Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission on Wednesday, the county leaders have decided they will be holding off on updating the county’s zoning ordinance for a while until they do further research and get more feedback from the public.
During the meeting on Wednesday evening, families showed up in force to show that they were against the new zoning ordinances that could be updated.
Planning Commission Chairwoman Sherri Michaell said that the county passed its current ordinance under scrutiny back in 1988. Some of the major improvements deal with how land can or couldn’t be zoned as agricultural, livestock land changes, how many chickens a person could have per acre of land, restrictions on beekeeping, and possible concerns over data centers…
