Roanoke police arrest suspect in 2025 assault turned homicide

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)- Police in Roanoke arrested a man wanted in connection with a 2025 assault that has now turned into a homicide investigation.

According to the Roanoke Police Department (RPD), the victim, identified as David Wayne Brown, 69, of Roanoke, was reportedly attacked with a glass bottle on Thursday, April 24, 2025 in the 2500 block of Salem Turnpike NW.

At the time, witnesses told police Brown was surrounded by a group of teenagers who ran off after he fell to the ground. Brown was conscious and breathing when he was taken to the hospital. Though Brown’s injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening, his condition deteriorated, according to RPD. Brown died on March 11, 2026…
