Punahou’s Kiyuna claims HHSAA individual title, Buffs repeat as boys golf champs

The final day of the HHSAA Boys Golf Championships were held on Wednesday at the Kaneohe Klipper Course, where both individual and team titles were decided.

Punahou’s Bret Kiyuna captured the individual championship after entering the day as the 18-hole leader. Kiyuna, who posted the tournament’s best round with a 72 on Tuesday, followed with a 75 in the final round to finish at 3-over par and win by two strokes.

Quade Martinez of Kalaheo finished second with a score of +5, one swing ahead of St. Joseph’s Leo Saito and Lakota Lee from Kihei Charter.

In the team competition, the Buffanblu claimed the state title, posting a total if 618 at 42-over par. The championship marks Punahou’s 13th boys golf state title in program history and back-to-back state crowns. Waiakea (639) finished second, followed by Kealakehe (641)…
