‘Can’t feel safe in places you’re supposed to have fun’: A look into crossfire shootings

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — A night out, drive home, or sleeping in your own bedroom: For some Alabama families, those ordinary moments turned deadly after being caught in the crossfire of gun violence. Some survived. Others never made it home.

The ABC 33/40 I-Team took an in-depth look at the number of innocent people impacted by gun violence and the emotional toll left behind for victims, survivors and families who say they no longer feel safe in places they once considered normal.
