Huntsville City Schools breaks ground on new middle school

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville City Schools marked the start of a major new construction project Thursday, breaking ground on a new Huntsville Middle School campus that will eventually replace the current junior high facility and expand grade levels.

The new campus will be built next to the existing Huntsville Junior High School on the current site and is part of the district’s broader capital improvement plan aimed at modernizing learning spaces across the system.

When completed, the school will transition from Huntsville Junior High School serving grades 7-8 to Huntsville Middle School serving grades 6-8. The project is scheduled to open in August 2028…
