2 arrested in Jasper County for running a chop shop

JASPER COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) – Two individuals have been arrested in Jasper County following an investigation into a suspected chop shop operation.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) recently partnered with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to investigate a suspected chop shop operation at Cano’s Auto Care, located at 29730 Whyte Hardee Blvd. in Hardeeville.

Over the past two months, JSCO detectives received anonymous complaints regarding the business. On May 12, 2026, both agencies executed a search warrant after locating evidence consistent with a chop shop operation.

The execution of the warrant led to the recovery of:

  • Three stolen vehicles
  • Multiple firearms and assorted ammunition
  • A dump trailer with a concealed VIN
  • A Ford F-150 with a swapped VIN

Alberto Cano Najera was arrested and charged with:

  • Owning and operating a chop shop
  • Three counts of Possession of Stolen Vehicle
  • Falsifying a VIN to conceal vehicle identity
  • 15 counts of Firearms; possession by or sale to Unlawful Alien
