Kansas School Allowed Sex Offender to Chaperone Field Trip

GODDARD, Kan. (KWCH) — A Kansas school district says it will review its procedures after it was discovered a registered sex offender served as a chaperone on a school field trip. The Goddard school district in Sedgwick County says it was unaware the volunteer parent was on the Kansas sex offender registry. The parent served as a chaperone during a recent field trip at Clark Davidson Elementary School. In a statement to KWCH, the district said it will “review its current volunteer procedures and investigate additional safety measures and safeguards related to volunteer participation.”
