Alta High School cancels classes after receiving threatening tip

SANDY, Utah (KUTV) — Classes at Alta High School were canceled on Thursday after the school received a tip regarding a possible threat through the SafeUT app.

School officials said the Canyons School District would “err on the side of safety” as police continue to investigate the tip.

The trip reportedly suggested students may be planning to bring weapons to the school, according to a message sent to parents. Alta High officials said the tip may be an “ill-advised” hoax, but school administrators take any threat to the safety of students and the security of the school seriously…
