Sprinkler system stops West Falls Church strip mall fire
Fairfax County firefighters quickly contained a late‑night fire at a West Falls Church shopping center after a sprinkler system activated and prevented the flames from spreading.
Crews were dispatched at 10:35 p.m. on April 28 to the 7200 block of Arlington Boulevard for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived to find a fire inside a store, but two ceiling sprinkler heads had already activated, controlling the flames before they could grow. The fire was fully extinguished shortly after.
