AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Farmers in Aiken County are celebrating after a national energy company decided to pull out of plans to build a gas-fired power plant in the New Holland area.
A gas-fired power plant would have been a change of scenery for neighbors in the rural area. When the possibility arose, they banded together under one idea: industry belongs in industrial areas, not their local farms.
