PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. — A team of research scientists from the University of Florida were in town Thursday collecting water samples at Pensacola Beach.
The goal of their research is to eventually create an early warning system for Vibrio vulnificus that could alert people of high concentrations a month in advance.
“So to the eye, people do not see vibrio, but it is in the water,” says Natalie Larsen, UF undergrad student Geohealth and Hydrology Research Lab. “It’s in warm coastal waters with low salinity, so coastal waters just like these.”…
