Polk City mother speaks out after assault charge stemming from school track meet

DES MOINES, Iowa– A Polk City mother and longtime educator is speaking publicly after being accused of assaulting a minor during a middle school track meet earlier this month.

Dr. Ashley Delaney, a 43-year-old mother of three with a STEM education Ph.D and a volunteer for the North Polk School Board, said the allegations and resulting publicity have dramatically affected her life.

“It’s been devastating,” she told WHO 13’s Katie Kaplan.
