Non-profit plants tree in honor of 17-year-old killed in Birmingham shooting

A non-profit organization plans to honor the memory of Destiny Lawson, a 17-year-old girl recently shot and killed in Birmingham.

The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, also known as The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, will be planting a memorial tree in her honor.

“This is another painful reminder of how easily young lives are being lost to gun violence in communities across America,” said founder Daniel Chaplain. “Destiny had an entire future ahead of her — dreams, goals, relationships, and experiences she deserved the opportunity to live.”…
