Yeah, yeah, yeah, we all miss Furr’s and Homeplate Diner, but what about those amazing bygone restaurants you may have temporarily forgotten about, but that I’m about to (painfully) remind you of? I apologize in advance for bringing these memories back to the surface, but at least we get to reflect on them together fondly.
Bless Your Heart
Bless Your Heart, right next to Covenant, was the place to get exciting, rotating frozen yogurt with a variety of toppings long before we had a Menchie’s. The sandwiches and soups were very delcious and this was one of my favorite spots. We could use more healthy options like this in Lubbock again.
Runner Up: the cafe inside Well Body. Remember the buffet?
Frenchman Inn
You went here if you were really fancy- and wanted real, authentic French food prepared by a real French guy, Chef Rene. This is the place where I learned that I do NOT like escargot but that I adore Strawberries Romanoff. I didn’t get to go here more than once (it was out of my price range), but I’m grateful I got to try it, it was a very memorable experience.
Runner-up: Chez Suzzette, only because I never personally got to try it.
Benaglio’s
The choose-your-own pasta adventure! It was so fun and somehow always delicious, no matter how you picked. Kind of like Mongolian Barbecue, but Italian. And it was in Kingsgate so it felt really fancy…
