Albuquerque Permit Fees for Casitas and Apartments Rising This Summer

Permit fees for casitas and apartment buildings in Albuquerque are going up—and how much you pay depends on when your complete application lands with the city.

Under the new building valuation regulation, the city phases in more recent International Code Council cost tables over three years. Complete applications received through June 30 are still calculated using 2018 cost tables. Starting July 1, the city switches to 2021 tables—and again in 2027 to 2024 tables.

For a 750-square-foot casita, that means a permit fee of $649.50 through June 30, rising to $693.11 in July, and climbing to $806.67 in 2027…
