Johnstown’s Growth Is Getting National Attention
One Northern Colorado town has been getting a lot of attention in the past couple of years. It’s one thing to be known for the first Scheels location in the state of Colorado, but add in the only Buc-ee’s to the city limits of Johnstown, and you have got a buzz going on for the city.
The U.S. Census Bureau released an updated population estimation report this week, and the once sleepy community of Johnstown is on the top 10 list of the fastest growing cities and towns with a population of 20,000 or more.
Johnstown Ranks Top 10 for Population Growth
Johnstown, Colorado, saw an increase in the population at a staggering 8.4 percent between July 1, 2024, and July 1, 2025. Chances are that even more people have moved to the community in the past year, too.
The increase of 1,736 residents in the town of Johnstown puts the approximate population of the Northern Colorado town at 22,433. According to the Reporter Herald, only two other Colorado communities made it on the list of the top 100 for percentage growth.
