Arizona powerhouse close to gifting Sooners another elite defender

The Oklahoma Sooners might have hit a well that keeps springing elite defensive talent.

The Sooners have extended a host of offers to Desert Edge High School’s defense in Goodyear, Arizona, and with one 2027 commit already from the program in three-star cornerback Mikyal Davis, a 2028 prospect could be following his teammate. And he’s probably the best the loaded program has to offer.

Rivals’ Brandon Huffman reported on Friday that 2028 five-star edge rusher Jalanie George has narrowed his college options down to six, including OU, Auburn, Florida, Washington, Miami and Ohio State. He also had offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Vanderbilt and more.

The Sooners entered the mix for George on Oct. 4 as his 20th Division-I offer. OU has also offered nearly half of George’s defensive teammates at Desert Edge High School, including Davis, defensive back Nekhi Lambeth, defensive back Jaelyn Easterling-Flores and defensive lineman Yahzeen Zion.
