‘No killings, no violence’: Summer programs aim to prevent youth crime

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – As school doors prepare to close, community leaders and local law enforcement are focusing on youth crime prevention through summer programs.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said his department sees an increase in youth crime during the summer months.

“We always see an uptick in the summer when parents don’t have something for their children to do in a positive way. They go out and do something they shouldn’t do. They make bad decisions,” Lott said…
