A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing a stolen golf cart on Catalina Island, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told NBC4 Investigates.
The unusual series of events on the island off the Southern California coast unfolded Sunday when a sheriff’s sergeant was flagged down by a man who said his golf cart, a primary form of transportation in the town of Avalon, had just been stolen. The sergeant began following the stolen cart with a man and woman inside before it crashed and flipped a short time later.
