TAMPA, Florida — Nineteen officers have been promoted to supervisory positions within the Tampa Police Department, according to Chief Lee Bercaw.
“This group of promoted individuals represents the wide range of experience and background that defines our department,” said Chief Bercaw. The promotions include roles from Corporals and Detectives to Sergeants, Lieutenants, and Captains, all sharing the mission of ensuring a safe Tampa. The promoted officers are expected to uphold the department’s commitment to being a world-class agency, serving both the community and future generations of Tampa Police Officers.
Captain Andrea Hughes will command patrol operations in Sector A, the northern section of District One. With nearly two decades of public service, Hughes has served with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office and joined the Tampa Police Department in 2010. Her career highlights include roles in the Dive Team and Special Victims Unit, and she has served on an elite FBI Human Trafficking Task Force.
