Dozen residents displaced in Urbandale apartment fire, heavy damage reported

URBANDALE, Iowa — A dozen residents were displaced during an apartment fire in Urbandale on Friday. This is the third apartment fire in the metro is leave people displaced this month.

The Urbandale Fire Department says crews were called to an apartment fire at Cross Creek Complex, near 86th Street and Meredith Avenue, just after 3:15 p.m. on Friday. It was reported that there was a fire on one of the apartment patios.

Upon arrival, fire crews found the fire located on the patio and the third floor of the building, with it spreading into the attic space. More than 50 firefighters were on scene during efforts to extinguish the fire, with crews utilizing a special mixture to aid the effort…
