Early morning Bradenton crash leaves bicyclist dead

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – A bicyclist was killed early Saturday when a driver struck him in a designated bike lane in Bradenton, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 4:25 a.m. at 53rd Avenue West and 66th Street West in Bradenton, troopers said.

Investigators said a 24-year-old Sarasota man was driving a 2002 BMW westbound on 53rd Avenue West when the vehicle entered the westbound bicycle lane and struck a bicyclist traveling in the same direction ahead of the car…
