Three Richland County house fires destroy homes Saturday; one resident treated for smoke

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Three house fires kept crews busy in Richland County on Saturday afternoon, with one sending a resident to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Columbia-Richland Fire officials said the first of the three fires was reported around 4:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Silverbell Court. The fire was under control in about 20-30 minutes.

Within the hour, fire crews were called to the 200 block of Kelly Mill Road around 4:50 p.m. for a two-story house that was on fire. A resident of the home was taken from the scene for smoke inhalation. Authorities are still working to determine how many people lived in the home, though fire officials said no one else was home at the time…
