EPCC celebrates Opportunity High School program

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — El Paso Community College held a graduation ceremony this week for its first cohort of students in the Opportunity High School Diploma program.

The OHSD program provides adult students, aged 18 years and older, who are enrolled in a career and technical education program at a public junior college in the state of Texas, the opportunity to earn a high-school diploma through concurrent enrollment in a competency-based education program, EPCC said.

The graduation ceremony for the OHSD program was held Wednesday, May 13.

Seven students earned this state-recognized high school diploma through self-paced courses while simultaneously completing a career-ready certification, certificate, or associate degree, in partnership with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), EPCC said…
