FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A Fort Collins father will lace up his running shoes Sunday for his first full marathon, running 26.2 miles in honor of his three daughters and raising money for the organization that supported his family through one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
Travis Arp will join roughly 28,000 participants in the Denver Colfax Marathon, which spans two days and includes a 5K, 10-mile, half marathon and full marathon. For Arp, the race is personal.
In 2022, Arp’s wife Sara was expecting twins. But their first daughter, Nora, was born only about halfway through the pregnancy at 22 weeks, and died shortly after. The second twin, another little girl name Rylee, was born two weeks later at 24 weeks, weighing just 1 pound, 7 ounces.
