Rob Schneider Draws Criticism from Fox News Viewers After Endorsing Spencer Pratt for Los Angeles Mayor
Rob Schneider, the actor known for “Grown Ups,” has sparked controversy among Fox News audiences following his explicit endorsement of Spencer Pratt in the race for Los Angeles mayor.
Appearing on Fox News’ “Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany” on May 16, Schneider, 62, criticized the city’s current leadership, including Mayor Karen Bass. He called out Bass for leaving Los Angeles to attend a wedding in Africa just before the city faced dangerous winds, suggesting this showed a lack of responsibility.
The most contentious moment of his interview came when Schneider made a startling remark about the recent wildfires in Los Angeles. He told McEnany, “I’m glad to see more people speaking about [the elections], because that’s what it’s going to take.
I mean, when I see my buddy David Spade, and I see other people who will put themselves out there, because look, LA, you have nothing to lose. Half of your town is already burned down.”
This comment quickly drew backlash on social media from Fox News viewers. One user expressed disbelief, writing, “I used to find this demented imbecile funny.
As a lifelong Los Angeles resident, I can say the level of delusional insanity here is only surpassed by his cult leader. MAGA cult members live in a fantasy world.”
Another commenter noted, “That’s the thing about propaganda. It’ll rot your mind worse than any hard drug.”
Additional responses ranged from disappointment to sharp criticism of Schneider’s career and public statements.
Schneider’s endorsement comes as Spencer Pratt, former star of “The Hills,” gains momentum in the mayoral race. Pratt has surged to second place, closing the gap with incumbent Mayor Karen Bass ahead of the June 2 primary. Although Pratt is a registered Republican, he is running as an independent due to the nonpartisan nature of the election.
Pratt’s campaign has attracted notable endorsements from celebrities such as Taylor Lautner, Joe Rogan, Elon Musk, Kristin Cavallari, and Paris Hilton. However, his candidacy has divided the Hollywood community.
His sister, Stephanie Pratt, has publicly questioned his qualifications, urging voters to reject him. Meanwhile, Mayor Bass has accused Pratt of exploiting wildfire victims’ suffering for personal publicity.
As the election approaches, the contest for Los Angeles mayor remains contentious, with Schneider’s outspoken support for Pratt adding another layer to the heated debate.
