LSU Shreveport hosts inaugural BBQU competition

SHREVEPORT, La. — LSU Shreveport hosted its first BBQU Competition on campus Saturday to celebrate with graduates, alumni, and the community.

Organized by the LSUS Foundation, the event featured local and regional competitors battling for nearly $10,000 in total prizes, including a $3,000 top prize. Attendees sampled food and voted for the People’s Choice Award alongside official judges, including barbecue podcaster Patrick Netherton and KTBS 3 Chief Meteorologist Patrick Dennis.

The family-friendly gathering included a Kids Zone with bounce houses and tethered hot air balloon rides, a beer garden for adults, and a dedicated cooling area. The event also featured the premiere of “Impossible Season,” a documentary by Melissa Goslin and Gregory Kallenberg chronicling the LSUS baseball team’s historic undefeated season…
