FIRST ALERT: Staying hot next few days ahead of pattern change late in week

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Summer-like heat will continue today and into the workweek ahead. A change in the weather pattern with a return to daily rain chances is expected by late in the week.

  • Even hotter and a bit humid today.
  • Any rain chances today remain south of the Midlands.
  • Unsettled weather pattern by the end of the week.

First Alert Summary:

With a head start in the 60s earlier this morning, temperatures will climb higher this afternoon, reaching the lower 90s in many locations. This afternoon, skies are expected to be partly cloudy to mostly sunny.

Remember to stay hydrated and take breaks out of the sun if working or playing outdoors today.

In addition to the heat, it will feel a little more humid. While it will not be humid like during the middle of summer, it will be noticeable. While dewpoints will fluctuate slightly each day, this is a look at forecast dew points at 12 PM next few days for reference.

Although we’ll feel an increase in atmospheric moisture compared to recent days, any chance for rain looks to stay to our south today.

After a stretch of hot and dry weather, we’ll finally see an unsettled weather pattern emerge by the end of the week.
