Governor Greg Abbott announced Saturday that FEMA has approved a request for a Fire Management Assistance Grant for the Hunggate Fire in Randall County, which has threatened and damaged homes, infrastructure and caused evacuations here in the Texas Panhandle. On Saturday morning the Hunggate fire merged with the Chocolate Chip Fire in Randall County burning over 34,000 acres and was only 70% contained. The fire prompted the evacuation of over 350 homes and threatened more than 1,200 homes in the surrounding area.
