When will the City of Edmonds join the growing cities, counties and states to ban or limit use of deafening, polluting, two cycle gas blowers in our residential neighborhoods? Apparently not in my and my wife’s lifetime.
The deafening noise, fumes and suspended dust and pollen is getting worse in my neighborhood, including on weekends. My family retreats indoors when the contractors show up down the street.
And why do they blow when there’s nothing to blow? It’s spring, soon to be summer. The four landscape contractors who weekly visit our neighborhood blow the flowerbeds, creating dust clouds that drift down the street. No debris, no piles of anything larger than a quarter. Then they blow the lawns, doing nothing more than resuspending the dust they blew out of the flower beds. The grass clippings that are not are picked up or mower-mulched, are blown into the street, awaiting the next Edmonds street cleaner to come by. I pity the flowerbeds, their drought-protecting cover of top soil added to the dust plumes. Why? Maybe it’s the contracts:blow every week…
