One seriously injured in early-morning hydroplane crash

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WIBW) – One person was seriously injured in a hydroplane crash early Monday in Wyandotte County, officials said.

The crash was reported at 1:45 a.m. Monday on Interstate 35 just west of Mission Road in Kansas City, Kansas.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicle was northbound on I-35 in the left lane when it hydroplaned and struck the right guardrail.

A passenger, Maelie T.M. Howe, 24, of Kansas City, Missouri, was transported to the University of Kansas Hospital with serious injuries. The patrol said Howe wasn’t wearing her seat belt…
