While the aspirations of some League One frontrunners to advance from the Prinx Tires USL Cup group stage might have been dashed over the past weekend, there was still plenty to talk about. Overall, five League One teams took results – either in regulation or a shootout – against Championship opposition, while two others fell from the spot having rallied to earn a draw in regulation.
Of those, three currently look to have a realistic chance at claiming a place in the knockout stage at the midway point of their campaign. Here’s where they stand, and the biggest obstacle to moving on.
